Make Parish Government more responsible, efficient, effective, and accountable.
Important Election Dates:
Early Voting: May 2-9 // Election Day: May 16
A modern Home Rule charter would:
• Create a system of checks and balances, which ensures more transparency and accountability for parish taxpayers
• Establish an elected parish president, which creates a full-time, professional approach to managing parish operations, from maintaining roads to ensuring public safety.
• Reduce duplication of services by establishing a parish council which will make government more efficient and save taxpayers time and money.
• Make the Parish more attractive to new businesses and investors, which would create more high-paying jobs and reduce the burden on parish taxpayers.
• Enable the Parish to govern itself more independently, instead of being bound by state laws that apply to all police jury systems in Louisiana that limit what parish governments can do without seeking legislative approval.
